Your body is your most important piece of golf equipment. To consistently play better golf you must be physically able to execute a proper golf swing time after time. Dr. Jon Rhodes, our golf fitness expert, will put you through a series of physical tests to determine your “golf fitness handicap.” This score will give us an idea of what your current golf fitness level is. The next step is using your new Titleist Performance Institute membership to view your personalized exercise program. This exercise program can be downloaded onto your iPod/iPhone or printed out to be taken with you to your workout. Then, four to six weeks later Dr. Rhodes will re-measure you and determine your progress. Does your fitness handicap improve? We have studies that show an improvement in your fitness handicap will improve your overall playing handicap. Once we re-measure your fitness handicap we can adjust your program based on your improvements. Future exercises focus more on rotational power and speed.
Golf fitness is very important for your golf swing. More importantly, golfers need to do the correct exercises for their bodies. In order to get better you need to attack the physical limitations that you have. Too many golfers go right into lifting weights before they have a solid base in which to build upon. This can lead to swing problems or even worse, injuries.
Dr. Rhodes states, “You need to feel like your exercises are improving your golf swing, otherwise you will stop doing them after a few days. If you are working out now, why not make it more golf specific? If you are not working out now, let me help you get started.”
